General Information on the One Step Pregnancy Test

When should you start testing?The test can be performed at any time of the day. But the first morning urine delivers the best result. The concentration of the pregnancy hormone varies highly from woman to woman, so you can not make a general statement. In general, about 75 percent of pregnant women have a hCG level to perform a test up to 6 days before their period. However, if you test too soon you may get a negative result even if you’re pregnant. Therefore, it makes sense to repeat the test in the next few days. |
What does the specification “mIU / ml” mean?mIU/mL stands for milli international units (mIU) per milliliter(mL). This value indicates from which hCG concentration in the urine the test becomes positive. |
What are “evaporation lines”Evaporative lines may be nonspecific reaction of any urine component with the reagent on the test strip – in this case, a slight gray line may result. Such lines can also occur if the test strip is read too late. Since a positive (albeit weak) result always shows a coloured line, you can easily tell from the colour whether a pregnancy is likely |
How to carry out the One Step Pregnancy Test?
- Bring the sealed test pouch to room temperature
- Open the sealed pouch and remove the strip.
- Immerse the test strip vertically (straight) into the urine sample for at least 15 seconds, making sure the arrows are pointing downwards. Do not allow the urine level to go above the MAX (maximum) level line (marked by arrows) on the test strip.
- Remove the strip from the urine and place the strip on a non-absorptive, clean and dry surface.
- Wait for the coloured bands to appear. Positive results may be visible within 40 seconds depending onthe concentration of hCG present but to confirm a negative result wait up to 5 minutes and until the background is clear. Results obtained after 5 minutes may be considered invalid.
- Discard the test after use
How to interpret the pregnancy test:
On the pregnancy test, there are 2 lines, the control line and the test line. The control line must always be displayed, otherwise the test is invalid. If the result is positive, two coloured lines appear on the test strip. It is important that the test line is about as dark as the control line.
Another advantage is that in contrast to other systems no readout device is needed, the result is visible within a few minutes on the test strip itself.
