Behind the Brand
HexNex began when I gave my young son one of my favourite resin bangles to play with, thinking it was safe and strong enough to endure his little hands. I was promptly proved wrong when he threw it on the floor and smashed it into two pieces – and so my hunt for baby proof jewellery began.
When I was unable to find anything that was both stylish and practical, I got down to making, and so HexNex was born! Our ethos has always been to create pieces that will be loved by both mums and babies alike.
Every single necklace is handmade and packaged with love from our small office in Winchester, Hampshire. As a mum of two boys, I know first hand that sometimes it’s the smallest things that make a big difference to us as mums.

Hygienic and Easy to CleanThe silicone used in teething necklaces is the same as that used in baby bottle teats and dummies. It is specifically designed NOT to allow the growth or spread of bacteria, and is odourless and tasteless. A lot of traditional teething toys have received bad press recently for hidden mould growing inside the hollow spaces. Teething jewellery doesn??t have this problem, plus they are super easy to clean using just hot soapy water or a steriliser wipe. |

That’s why all our jewellery has been independently tested by UK labs, to ensure they conform to some of the strictest safety standards. (SATRA Technology, 31.01.2020).
European Safety Standard EN71, parts 1-3, is a set of regulations relating to toy safety including toxicity, flammability and physical properties. Although our necklaces are NOT TOYS, we have had them tested to the relevant parts of this standard because they will be interacted with closely by babies. This does not, however, make them safe as toys and a teething necklace should never be given to a baby or child to play with because of the long cord and the risk of choking.
Many sellers are put off by the high cost of testing their teething necklaces in UK labs. But this is the ONLY way to ensure that the construction of the necklace is safe and strong enough for it to be used as a teething item.
