Product Description
Best choice for constant heat: The Komodo Infrared Heat Lamp provides a constant supply of essential infrared (IR) heat rays for reptiles night and day. Reptiles are essentially solar powered. They need infra red heat rays from the Sun and are attracted to it by bright light. The IR heat rays provide deep penetrating heat for less risk of skin burns. The lamp can be thermostatically controlled for safer use. Reptiles also need UVA light to both see and function properly. The Komodo Infrared lamp provides a moderate output of UVA rays to help stimulate appetite and the immune system. the soft red light supplies a more restful light, suitable for night as well as daytime use.
Other requirements: Use a brighter, white coloured lamp for more daytime heat if required, such as the Komodo Neodymium Daylight Spot Lamp. Most reptiles need UVB light rays as well as IR heat rays. UVB light provides them with the ability to produce vitamin D3, which is essential for healthy bones. The Infrared Heat Lamp provides no significant UVB light rays, but Komodo stocks a range of UVB lamps and fluorescent tubes in various UVB outputs to suit different species of reptile.
Safety: Before purchasing and installing any lighting for a reptile, ensure that the bulb specification is compatible with the reptile species and the light fitting. Allow the lamp to cool before handling, and switch off electricity supply before removing and replacing the lamp. Please dispose of lamps and packaging responsibly.
